Back to normal life.

Le sigh.

I’m excited, though. Winter break is always a little weird — we were in Lake Tahoe from Christmas Eve (following the most harrowing drive of my life — leading a line of cars over a mountain pass in whiteout conditions) through Saturday. It was wonderful as usual, but while everyone else was grabbing January 1st by the balls, I was still indulging in sleeping in, good wine, cookies, and lazing on the couch watching bowl games (the most interesting part, really, was watching the reactions of my brother and uncle, both of whom bet on nearly every game). And on January 2nd. We drove home on the 3rd and yesterday I started getting back to normal — except, of course, a new “normal,” a “2015 normal” with Resolutions! and Goals! and Ambitions!


(Also, Onyx was SO GOOD up in Tahoe. I’m pretty sure if she had it her way, we’d move up there [and I wouldn’t necessarily object]. I was so proud of my little bear — she played with my uncle’s dog and charmed just about every family member into giving her endless treats and everyone commented repeatedly on how much better she’s gotten since we first adopted her #progress)

This Week’s Wishes

01 | get my truck washed
I’ve been putting this off for-ev-er (my excuse has been that we’re in a drought) but after driving it in the snow for a week+…it’s a necessity.

02 | clean out my cupboards
(I dream of the day when I can say “pantry” instead) This is part of Step 1 of my resolution to not waste food anymore — clearing out the old food and taking inventory of what we have (you don’t want to know what I finally pulled out of the fridge yesterday…I may have almost thrown up).

03 | update my LinkedIn profile
I haven’t touched it since I left my job last summer.

04 | at least 4 green smoothies
Because healthy.

    • Thanks! For smoothies, my go-to recipe is a handful of spinach, FROZEN banana (must be frozen or it doesn’t taste right…yes I’m weird), small handful of frozen pineapple/mango chunks (I get a big bag of frozen “tropical fruits” from Costco), almond milk (enough to get the consistency you like), spoonful of almond butter, and a healthy dash of cinnamon. For me the frozen banana is essential — it completely masks the “green” taste and gives it that creamy smoothie consistency.
