I’m linking up with Melyssa at Nectar Collective today to share my wishes/goals for week. Join in!
You know how you can go to a concert and not drink much, or anything, but the next day you’re still kinda tired and foggy like a hangover — from the noise, the crowds, the adrenaline, and the super late night? And yet, unlike a true hangover where you’re cursing past-you’s decisions, this is so totally worth it?
That’s where I’m at right now. We saw the Zac Brown Band last night and it. was. incredible. This is the fourth time I’ve seen them live and every time has been an entirely different show and every time has been fantastic. The first time, in early 2012, they mainly stuck to their hits and pretty much covered them all, from “Chicken Fried” to “Colder Weather.”
Now, I think it’s like they’ve had so many amazing hits, they’ve said “Screw it, there’s no way we can play them all” and/or “We’ve played XYZ a million times now, let’s try something different.” I think nearly half their songs last night were covers — Led Zeppelin (!!!!!!) which transitioned to “Devil Went Down to Georgia” (which I swear was at double-time), Ray LaMontagne, Foo Fighters, Billy Joel (a piano-less version of “Piano Man”), a little interlude of James Brown and Aretha, Metallica, and Queen.
METALLICA AND FUCKING QUEEN. You know, typical country show. We went absolutely nuts when they started the riffs for “Enter Sandman” — I was jumping, headbanging, singing/yelling along, the whole bit. And then in the encore when they harmonized “Is this the real life?” my heart nearly stopped.
I could go on, but I’m in desperate need of a shower, so we’ll just get to the wishes:
Last Week’s Wishes
01 | still work on last week’s goals
I made some progress on the financial front. Husband and I need to sit down and take care of the rest of transferring/closing accounts. Social media is still a work-in-progress.
02 | clean/organize/tidy/decorate the apartment
Hah, actually Husband got home from work on Wednesday and went into manic cleaning mode. I made dinner and watched the Giants game and him vacuuming and dusting and stuff. So he did most of that stuff for me. I tried to clean off my desk, but it only stayed like that for about 30 minutes.
03 | continue to update/tweak this blog and my website
Um, whoops? In my defense I spent a ton of time last week on projects with very hard deadlines and had to adjust some priorities…
04 | yoga at least twice
Once! So half accomplished!
05 | 100 Rejection Letters Kick-Off!
Yeah, it’s not like this wasn’t gonna happen. But now I get to spend some time this week and next following the planning exercises.
This Week’s Wishes
01 | relax and enjoy some time with my in-laws
They’re in town for the week — my father-in-law is here for a work conference, so my mother-in-law tagged along so they could visit with us. I’m planning to get to point by Tuesday afternoon where I can basically take a couple days off to hang out with them.
02 | still work on the desk thing
What are your goals this week?
